BaZi · Four Pillars
BaZi reads your birth moment as four columns of stems and branches (year / month / day / hour). The Day Master is you; the surrounding pillars are the climate of your life. Useful spirit (用神) identifies what the chart needs more of; ten gods (十神) classify how every other element relates to the Day Master. The Ziping school treats the chart as a system in balance, then reads the next ten years (大运) and current year (流年) as weather that hits the system.

Purple Star arranges 14 main stars and a network of auxiliary stars across 12 palaces — career, wealth, spouse, parents, and so on. Each star carries a temperament; each palace governs a life arena. The chart is structural: the configuration is largely fixed, while 大限 (great limits, decade-cycles) shift which palaces are activated. Where BaZi is climatological, Purple Star is architectural.
